Let us prepare our hearts to worship the Lord this Sunday.
This Sunday, we will be celebrating the Lord’s Supper. Let us examine our hearts in preparation.
“Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgement on himself.”
1 Cor. 11: 28-29
In our Order of Worship this week we will be Professing our Faith by reading a portion of Chapter 25 in the Westminster Confession of Faith. Read it below to prepare your heart.
25-4. This catholic* church hath been sometimes more, sometimes less visible. And particular churches, which are members thereof, are more or less pure, according as the doctrine of the gospel is taught and embraced, ordinances administered, and public worship performed
more or less purely in them.
25-5. The purest churches under heaven are subject both to mixture and error; and some have so degenerated, as to become no churches of Christ, but synagogues of Satan**. Nevertheless, there shall be always a church on earth, to worship God according to his will.
* – catholic means universal, not Roman Catholic.
** – See Rev. 3:9
Chapter 25, Westminster Confession of Faith, 1647.
